what is it? What is it?

Electrical or electronic equipment usually has a label specifying its consumption or power. This power may be specified in Watts, which is more common, or in VA.

The equipment manual may also contain consumption or power information.

Example: Desktop: 100 Watts, Monitor: 50 Watts, Inkjet printer: 100 Watts.

Calculation:

  1. Computer: 100 W / 0.7 = 143 VA (approx.)
  2. Monitor: 50 W / 0.7 = 71 VA (approx.)
  3. Inkjet printer: 100 W / 0.7 = 143 VA (approx.)

Total: 428VA x 1.20 = 514VA

It is also possible that the label includes voltage and electric current information.

Example: voltage: 220V, current: 2.5A. The power will be the result of the product between voltage and current: 220V x 2.5A = 550VA.

IMPORTANT: Add a safety margin (at least 20%) to the calculated total.
